Samsung Elec introduces updated software for custom smartphone applications


Samsung Electronics showed off One UI 5.0, the latest in its software overlay for its smartphones and various other Android-based devices, at the annual Samsung Developer Conference (SDC) held in San Francisco, United States, on Wednesday (local time).

One UI 5.0 enables a more personalized user experience through custom modes and routines and the dynamic lock screen, as well as improved security through a new privacy system equipped with user data management options, according to its statement of press

The new software also includes Bixby Text Call, which answers the call by sending text messages to the caller, and new health solutions for tracking health and wellness data through the Galaxy Watch.

The South Korean tech shared an updated SmartThings, its connectivity platform that has expanded to connect devices and services from 300 brands so far. The company has been very active in increasing connectivity with Matter compatible devices. Matter is a unifying connectivity protocol for building a secure Internet of Things ecosystem.

It has also partnered with Philips Hue to integrate lighting solutions from Dutch multinational Philips with its Galaxy devices to offer a smart home lighting solution with music to match.

To increase home security, the company introduced Samsung Knox Matrix, a private blockchain-based platform that controls Galaxy devices, from TVs to home appliances, under a shielded system.
